Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certification (CMMC) 2.0 is a cybersecurity framework that was developed by the Department of Defense (DoD) to ensure its contractors protect sensitive government information.

UPDATE: As of November 10, 2025, CMMC 2.0 is now required for all contractors working with the Department of Defense.

In addition to complying with DoD standards, CMMC 2.0 certification safeguards your date from nefarious actors.
What You Need To Know

FCI includes non-public information related to goods or services from the government.

CUI includes sensitive information that must be protected by law or policy.

Both may flow down to subcontractors.

Even systems that do not directly store CUI must be segregated and protected. Entire networks may fall within scope if data traverses through them.
